Delivering Audio

Can I Change the Tracklisting For my Album or EP?

No, you cannot change the tracklisting of a release that's been submitted.

The album or EP must be resubmitted with the updated tracklisting if you would like to update the tracklisting and/or remove/add a track to the release.

Please contact clientservices@arsontheory.com with the UPC of the original and updated albums so that we can issue a takedown and process your latest release.

Once I complete an audio distribution release, am I guaranteed to get my music on the selected platforms?

You must meet certain partner standards to distribute audio content to major streaming platforms like Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, etc.

For audio distribution, we only accept .WAV or .FLAC file types, with a sampling rate of 44.1Khz and 16-bit or 24-bit resolution.

For cover art, we accept JPEG or PNG formats, must be square and a recommended size of 3200 x 3200 pixels; minimum size of 1400 x 1400 pixels.

Per DSP requirements please refrain from including the following in your artwork:

  • Social media tags
  • Barcodes / QR codes
  • Any reference to DSPs (Tiktok, Apple Music, Spotify, etc.)

If included a member of our team will reach out to request edited artwork which could result in a delayed release.

How do I get my music on streaming platforms like Apple Music, Spotify, TikTok, etc.?

The Arson Theory platform offers an end-to-end audio distribution solution to efficiently package and deliver your content to multiple streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and more.

How long will it take to deliver my video to premium video partners (i.e. iTunes/Apple Music, Vevo, etc.)?

From platform upload to distribution, our technology provides the digital infrastructure needed to efficiently package and deliver your video content to major video streaming platforms and social networks.

Applying for a Vevo channel is one of our premium services that are available with the Arson Theory Plan. If you already have a Arson Theory Plan, you can create a release, select “Deliver To Premium Partners', and choose Vevo as your video's destination.

Once the release is complete, it will be manually reviewed to ensure that Vevo requirements are met, which may include certain metrics such as social media following, video performance, the authenticity of engagement, and quality of content.

What is SoundExchange?

Along with setting policies for how your content is managed at Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, the Arson Theory platform allows creators to deliver to and collect royalties from SoundExchange.

SoundExchange is a collection society that collects performance royalties earned on the sound recording from non-interactive digital streaming like iHeartRadio and Pandora.

Arson Theory only collects the Rights Owner portion of royalties on your behalf, so make sure to register as an artist to collect the other portion as applicable.

The Arson Theory platform makes it easy to determine how your content is managed on SoundExchange:

  • Claim From Inception - Arson Theory will deliver and collect on your content at SoundExchange from the date your recording was released. This is typically selected when royalties have never been collected.
  • Claim From Specific Date - Arson Theory will deliver and collect on your content at SoundExchange from the specific date that you provide within the platform. This is typically selected in a catalog transfer where a previous party has rights up to a certain date. If this is the case, select the date after the previous rights holder rights are terminated.
  • Do Not Claim - Arson Theory will not claim your content on SoundExchange.
What do the different protection policies (i.e. Monetize, Block, Permit, No Policy) mean?

Based on content strategy goals, the Arson Theory platform enables creators to select different protection policies for how they want their content managed on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. The 4 protection policies include:

  • Monetize– selected platforms may display advertisements with the content, which generates revenue that Arson Theory collects on behalf of the rights holder.
  • Block– selected platforms will prevent users from uploading protected content.
  • Permit– selected platforms will allow users to upload content that contains copyrighted material. Performance metrics, like views, will be tracked; However, no revenue will be generated.
  • No Policy– Arson Theory will not claim copyrighted content on selected platforms.

Still not sure what protection policy works best for you? Check out our blog to learn more.

* Please note that claims will be made on all content uploads, including the creator or rights holder's own uploads in order to apply the selected policy.

What happens if I check the box that my song is a cover?

A cover is an original performance of someone else's song. Since you can only assert rights that you own or control exclusively, checking the “cover” box will prevent you from being able to assert composition rights for works that you did not have a part in composing. Please note that as the recording copyright owner, it is your responsibility to get clearance from the original composition's rights holder(s).

What is an ISRC?

Content for this section could not be retrieved directly. However, similar to the description below for UPC, an ISRC (International Standard Recording Code) is a unique code that identifies individual tracks/recordings.

What is a UPC?

Similar to an ISRC, a Universal Product Code (UPC) is a unique 12 character code that identifies unique products like CDs and digital albums. ISRC's identify individual tracks while UPC's identify the complete album. As a Arson Theory user, if you do not have UPCs for your content, we can create them for you at no additional cost.

Please note you will need both an ISRC and UPC to deliver your audio and video content to streaming platforms.
